Back to School time really motivated me to start up Mommy School again!

We took the summer off, but once I saw the school buses around our neighborhood, I was ready! For the last couple of weeks, we have been loving our “I is for Insects” unit. This week I decided to surprise Little Man with a “spider snack” after his nap.

He loves Oreo cookies. He honestly prefers Oreos over my homemade cookies. Tragic, huh? I am still working on that… Anyway, I knew he would fall in love with these little spiders, and I was right! This was probably my ‘Coolest Mom’ moment of the week. We sat down and enjoyed Oreo spiders with milk!

Although I had hoped to dip these spiders in chocolate, I realized only had vanilla candy wafers on hand. So this was a great time to teach Little Man about white albino spiders!!

These were SUPER easy to make…

I started out with a bowl of vanilla candy wafers.

I melted them for just 30 seconds in the microwave and mixed them up well.

We always have Double Stuff Oreos on hand at our house! Seriously. We have at least 2 packages at all times. It’s like our food storage.

I wedged a pretzel stick inside the Oreo and dipped it in the candy. I resisted the urge to eat it up right then and let it cool on wax paper. (You could also speed up the process by sticking them in the refrigerator!)

I dipped 4 pretzel sticks (broken in half) in the candy wafers too, and wedged them in each side for the spider’s legs. I added mini chocolate chip eyes and a sour straw mouth before they set up, too.

We used M&M’s for these eyes.

And my little bumblebee gobbled up his spider! In fact, he begged for another one!

So we made a couple more. They were YUMMY!
