Popcorn & Bear Masks {Smashed Peas & Carrots}

Happy day!
It's Friday!
Alright friends, you are going to LOVE my guest today:  Miss Maggie from Smashed Peas and Carrots!  She chose one of my all-time favorite books ever!  She is incredibly talented, so enjoy her creativity!!
Hi!  My name is Maggie from Smashed Peas and Carrots.  I'm so excited to be here today!!  I'm a momma to three little ones, 4 and under, and over at my blog I love to share my mommy adventures!  I also share lots of my DIY craft and sewing tutorials, delicious family friendly recipes and lots of fun projects to do with you little ones that won't break the bank.  I own an Etsy shop of the same name, Smashed Peas and Carrots, where I sell beautifully handmade children's clothing and accessories for momma!
When Alison asked me to be a part of the Summer Camp Series I had to say yes!  We love reading books at our house and we have such a collection that I almost feel like our books are taking over our house!  We are seriously running out of places to keep them but I think that's a pretty good problem to have if you ask me!
The book I want to share with you all today is 'Popcorn' by Frank Asch

This is one of my most favorite books ever!  My siblings and I used to sit and read it all the time when we were kids.  Can you believe that this is the same book we would read all those years ago!  It's in pretty good shape still don't you think?  My parents dug it out of the basement and sent it to me when oldest, Noah, was an itty bitty baby!
This book is about a little bear cub named Sam who has been trusted to stay home alone while his parents go out to a Halloween Party.  While his parents are gone, Sam calls all his little friends over to have their own Halloween party.  Each friend comes over dressed in a costume and brings Sam a treat.  The catch is that they each bring Sam the same treat...Popcorn!  During the party, Sam and his friends start getting hungry so they decide to pop up all the popcorn and that is when trouble begins!
'There was so much popcorn, it filled the whole kitchen.'
Now Sam and his friends are forced to eat every last kernel of popcorn to help hide the evidence of the Halloween party from Sam's parents.  When his parents return home later that night, Sam is in bed sleeping.  They wake him to tell him they are home and that they brought him a treat.  Can you guess what it was?  POPCORN!

Wednesday’s Wowzers: Join Me on Pinterest

Happy Wednesday, my friends!

I have another gorgeous.creative.unique.clever.amazing round-up of wowzers in store for you today. While my hubby and I snuggled on the couch watching America's Got Talent, I multi-tasked.  I found myself truly inspired by ideas from around the web.

I've been using Pinterest to help me get organized with my crafting inspiration.  Do you follow me on Pinterest yet?  You can see some of my favorite ideas from all kinds of genres from photography to style on Pinterest.  I'm a pinning fool!

Now on with today's features!

Okay, I am drooling.  No really.  This ruffled duvet is gorgeous!!  If I ever venture to own white bedding, I will do follow this tutorial at Kiki Creates.

I want someone to throw me a brunch like this "Anchored" post-wedding brunch!  Okay, maybe I'll draw from Sweet Rose Studio's inspiration to create one all on my own.  Isn't it gorgeous?!  I love all things nautical, and I love the splash of yellow on this summer tablescape!

This is a fantastic idea!!  I am already dreaming up ways to incorporate this "Love One Another" mantel into my own home.  You can see more at La Famille!

YUM!  I just showed this picture to my husband, and we both had to go get a snack.  This basil and tomato bruschetta looks scrumptious!  I may have to make some this week!  Check out A Pretty Life in the Suburbs for the recipe.  (While you're at it, also check out the gorgeous summer dahlia yarn wreath!)

Tuxedo Onesie

This is a tutorial I originally posted at The Scrap Shoppe.  You may remember the tuxedo t-shirt that I posted about months ago.  Well, here is the baby version!

Introducing the tuxedo onesie!

This is my new favorite go-to baby gift.
Come along with me and see how to make your own...
The hardest part of this entire project was coming up with a tuxedo silhouette.
I searched Google images, and came up with nothing.
So I designed my very first silhouette inside of Photoshop!
This may not sound difficult, but it was no small feat for me.
Next, I imported my silhouette design into my Sure Cuts a Lot software.
When using heat transfer vinyl, you actually create a mirror image of your original before you cut it.
I was careful to measure the onesies and make the tuxedo images fit accordingly.

Sunday’s Snippets: Mr. Oopsey Daisy’s Birthday

If you’re new to Oopsey Daisy–welcome!  For me, Sundays are all about family.  So each week, I share little bits and pieces of our regular, everyday lives in this Sunday’s Snippets feature.

This week we celebrated Mr. Oopsey Daisy's Birthday.

With a baby face like his, can you believe he is now 31?!

Dang babe, we're getting old. 🙂

Our lovely morning began with French toast on Hawaiian bread.

Little Man became my Secret Agent.  Man oh man, he was excited to show his Daddy his very own homemade card!

Buzz and Woody joined us for the birthday celebration.

Lately they seem to be joining us for just about everything!

A Bad Case of Stripes {Lil’ Luna}

I couldn't be any more thrilled that it's Friday!
And to celebrate the occasion, Kristyn from Lil' Luna is here! Kristyn is one of my favorite people... I know because I got to meet her in real life! And this girl has creativity oozing out of her ears!

Hi there Oopsey Daisy Readers!!

I'm Kristyn from Lil' Luna and am THRILLED to be here today as part of Alison's Summer Camp Series.

What a fun idea!
We love books over here at the Merkley house -
especially kids books!
Believe it or not, but I've been collecting kids books for about
10 years now.

The hubby even proposed at Barnes and Nobles {at the midnight release of Harry Potter} using a kids book he had made.
That's how much we LOVE books!
{Btw, it's okay if you think we are nerds because we are} 🙂

My FAVORITE kid author of all is David Shannon.
He has so many fun books, but one of the things I love most about them are the illustrations.

My favorite is:

A Bad Case of Stripes

It's all about a little girl named Camilla who is so concerned about what others think that she ends up covered in stripes and everything else you can imagine because she doesn't want her classmates to know she loves LIMA BEANS!! Afraid she will be unpopular with her classmates for this secret of hers, Camilla only truly finds herself when she embraces her secret and no longer cares what others think of her.

Reading this book made me realize "I wish my kid LOVE lima beans!!" That's definitely not the case since liking lima beans (or any veggies for that matter) is not super common, especially with my kiddos. In fact, they're pretty darn picky. The hubby and I are trying to encourage our kids to eat all sorts of foods and not just something with cheese in it (grilled cheese, quesadillas, mac and cheese, pizza - the kiddos favs). We decided to make EATING CHARTS to help with this... and of course made them with STRIPES!!

Mixed Bag Designs Giveaway {5 winners!} – NOW CLOSED

This giveaway is now closed.

It's Giveaway Day!

I am always anxious to share fabulous products with you.  Today I am not only promoting the products, but I am promoting a fabulous company with fabulous products!

Mixed Bag Designs sells reusable bags of all shapes and sizes.  We're talking totes, gift bags, file boxes, laptop bags, duffel bags, iPhone covers, garment bags, cosmetic bags, grocery bags, and much much more!  All of the bags are reusable and available in a wide variety of patterns.  So you can look good while goin' green!

Mixed Bag Designs frequently works with schools on fundraisers.  Wouldn't these make a fun (and green!) alternative to selling wrapping paper or cookie dough?!  In my teaching days I would have jumped at an opportunity to raise some money for our schools by selling cute bags!  You can see the entire fundraiser catalog here or contact for more info.

I have been working with DJ from Mixed Bag Designs for the last few weeks.  What a generous and talented company!  They insisted that I see their bags with my own 2 eyes.  So I went shopping at Mixed Bag Designs!

I tried out a variety of bags in all shapes and sizes.  Don't you love this damask print on this medium tote?  I have started carrying this bag with me to church.  I take quite a few items with me to Primary every Sunday--a humongous binder, speakers and i-pod, etc.  So this bag works perfectly... and it's dressy for church!

One of my favorite products is the large zip tote. I use this bag as our swim bag.  I pack this bag with Little Man's swim toys, swim diapers, towels, etc.  I can zip it up and just go!  Plus, these bags work perfectly for wet items.  You just wipe them clean.

Wednesday’s Wowzers: Unusually Good

Hello, my friends!!  What are you up to this week??

Tomorrow is my husband's birthday, and I am in the final stages of birthday planning.  My husband is one of those tricky people who will never admit what he really needs or wants.  He buys whatever he needs all on his own.  But we have a few tricks up our sleeve.  Little Man has been my little secret agent helper--if only he knew how to keep a secret!

I am unusually excited about my Wednesday's Wowzers today...

Here's some eye candy for ya!  How about flowers in mason jars hanging on a clothes line?? Gorgeous!   You can see more at Not Just a Housewife.

I have always wanted to make my own play kitchen, and this kitchen is amazing!  I just love Shanty 2 Chic.  They know how to cutesify everything!

I could think of lots of ways to use this fun Jar of Fun. I want a jar just like this!  I could think of millions of ways to use it.  You have to visit The Daily Digi to get tons of fun ideas to put in this jar of fun, too!

I had no idea that you could create ruffles with leather!  Linda from Craftaholics Anonymous always amazes me! Don't you love this ruffled soda can cozy?!

Alright Mommy School fans.  Do you love fun and useful printables as much as I do?  Lawteedah has created these amazing alphabet tracing pages.  I can't wait to print them out!

Just Sew Sassy, my mouth is watering!  These Dulce de Leche peanut butter cookies look scrumptious!  I can't wait to try them!

This paper cone wreath absolutely blows my mind.  I have no doubt it required a lot of time and patience, but it definitely paid off!  Love this, Corner House!

So what are you lovin' this week??
