Wednesday’s Wowzers: Woot! Woot!

Hello friends!  How is your week going?

Are you recovered from your Fourth of July weekend yet?  I am still sleepy from staying up way too late from all of our own fireworks festivities--plus being woken up from my neighbors' late-night craziness too!  Plus I think I ate  twice my own weight from a series of yummy bar-be-cues.  Every scrumptious bite was worth it, though!

And now...

Woot!  Woot!  It's time for Wednesday's Wowzers!!

I love everything about this clock makeover from Landee See, Landee Do. Isn't the color stunning?!  And using family pictures was a fabulous idea!

Who knew a potato sack could look this cute?!  I {heart} this!  A Girl and a Glue Gun may have just made Idaho look real good with this potato sack pillow!

Road Trip Bingo {Printable!}

This is a post that I originally published on 30 Days as part of Mique's fun series, Funner in the Summer.

Just a few weeks ago, my family attempted our very first road trip.  In the past, we have always flown with Little Man.  I was a bit nervous about taking a lengthy trip in the car!

Thankfully, with a few tricks up my sleeve, we all survived the long 10 hours together in the car!  I have many happy memories of summer road trips with my own family growing up.  Every summer, my family would make a looooooooooong trek across the country to Utah for family reunions.  That meant packing up in a small station wagon with these monkeys:

Living in the car for 2 days might have been painful. Luckily the homemade root beer, family baseball games,  and toasty camp fires made it all worthwhile once we got there.

Surprisingly, road trips are now one of my favorite memories.

My Mom was a genius!  She kept us entertained in the car with prizes to unwrap, vacation journals to write in, and (my personal favorite!) games to play.  Our favorite game to play was Road Trip Bingo!  My siblings and I searched for windmills, license plates, birds on phone wires, etc.  It was sibling rivalry at its best!

Now that I am a Mom myself, I am already anticipating that ominous question, “Are we there yet?”

So I created a few printables to help entertain our kiddos for those long summer road trips!

Directions
Each Road Trip Bingo game has 5 unique gameboards.
Just print on cardstock, laminate if desired, and bring the gameboards along on your next road trip!
This version of Road Trip Bingo is ideal for older kids.  They can search for different road signs as you're driving.  You can download this game here.

Clip art for this Bingo comes from Scrappin Doodles.

This game is ideal for younger kids with shorter attention spans.  Search for diggers, trucks, cars, trains, fire trucks, airplanes, jeeps, and police cars.  You can download this game here.

Clip art for this Bingo comes from DJ Inkers.  Used with permission.

In this version of the game, kids can search for different colored cars.  You can download the Road Trip Bingo for colored cars here.

I hope this helps make your summer road trips a little bit funner!

Card Table Doggy House {Nothing But Country}

Today I am thrilled to be hosting the inspirational bloggers Chad and Mary Beth from Nothing But Country.  I just know you're going to love their tutorial today!

Hello, hello!! I am so excited to be blogging over here at Oopsey Daisy! Today I am excited to share  one of our fun crafts with you. I am Mary Beth, and you can find me over at Nothing But Country. My husband and I are often creating together. But you will find that I do the blogging, and he does most of our cooking/baking posts. He loves to cook (I am one lucky gal!!) And I love to craft so we make a great team!

My daughter is having a puppy party for her birthday. I wanted to have something fun that the girls can play in to pretend they are puppies in one of the activities. Instead of making a dog house out of a refrigerator box and then having to store it. I wanted something easy to pack away & easy to make.

I had this card table that I purchased at Target. My card table measures 34" wide by 28" tall.

I am not much of an artist. Ha Ha. This is the sketch I came up with originally. Not exactly how it ended up to be, but it helped me with planning how much material I needed and what each panel would generally look like.

I purchased 2 yards of green and 1 yard of chocolate felt and multiple colored sheets of felt based on what I wanted to have on my dog house.

With my felt I cut out simple shapes like circles, triangles, ovals, etc. to make some cute puppies. I used my FAVORITE glue of all time, Fabri-Tac!! I found it at my local JoAnn's Craft Store. I wanted to make this project as easy as possible. It dries quickly and in 24 hours it dries as hard as sewing all the pieces together.

I also cut out a few bone shapes and puppy food bowl. I simply went on Google.com and searched for bone and food bowl graphics and stretched them in word document and use them as a guide for cutting out those shapes.

Happy Fourth of July!

Happy Fourth of July!

How are you celebrating today?

We woke up bright and early to participate in our church's pancake breakfast and bike parade.  Little Man's legs don't quite reach pedals yet, so he took his Mickey Mouse bike for a spin instead....

We decorated his bike so he could cruise in style!  There may have been a few tears when the balloons popped.   I am happy to say that Little Man retrieved each and every streamer that fell off his lil' bike.

We got a good laugh out of his shirt--I Dig Chicks With Sparklers. (Thanks, lilsteinstyles featuring sam-n-i!)

So cheers!  Have a red, white, and blue popsicile.

Relax and enjoy your Fourth, my friends!

And the Dish Ran Away With the Spoon {Today’s Fabulous Finds}

It's my favorite day of the week!  I have been so incredibly inspired by these fabulous guests, and their creative ideas.  I am hoping to do a roundup of story-based activities toward the end of summer.  If you have an inspiring activity/project/craft based on a story, be sure to e-mail me the link!

I {heart} our next guest.  Janet from Today's Fabulous Finds is beyond talented.  All I can say is I love ALL of her projects!  And guess what?  She is a nice person, too!  Be sure to stop by her blog.  You will be amazed.

Hello Oopsey Daisy Readers!  My name is Janet and I'm visiting today from Today's Fabulous Finds.  I'm thrilled to have been invited to share one of my family's favorite books with you at Alison's Summer Camp!

The book I chose is titled 'And the DISH Ran Away with the SPOON', by Janet Stevens and Susan Stevens Crummel.  It has such a fun storyline and endless possibilities for activities too!

Hey diddle diddle, the cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon,
The little dog laughed to see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.

Every night the rhyme gets read.  Every night Dish and Spoon run away.  And Every night they return--until tonight!
Where can Dish and Spoon be?  The rhyme can't go on without them, so Cat, Cow, and Dog set out to search for their missing friends.  But where to start?  Should they go north?  East?  Northeast?  They'll just have to read Fork's map, ask directions, and try not to get lost in Little Boy Blue's haystack or under Miss Muffet's tuffet or in Big Bad Wolf's kitchen--
"FEE, FI, FO..."
Oh no.  Could that be the giant?
-forward from 'And the Dish Ran Away with the Spoon'
My kids and I (with my sister's help too) thought of some activities that you might enjoy that fit right along with the storyline of the book.  I suggest reading the book first, doing some of the activities throughout the week, and then reading the book again.  This time you'll have a map to follow and a fiddle to play!  We hope you have as much fun as we did!
Directions: Find a couple of boxes (or just one).  Trace around a small bowl or plate then cut out the circle.  Be sure to leave enough of the box so it will be strong enough to support the stretch of the rubber bands.  You can purchase a bag of rubber bands in assorted colors and sizes for around 50 cents.  Tape the two boxes together with duct or packing tape.
Decorate with stickers, glitter glue, paint, or markers if you'd like, or leave it plain like we did.  (Remember, it doesn't need to look pretty to be fun!)
