Watermelon Lemonade

I hope you enjoyed a fun-filled Father's Day with your families yesterday!

We spent our Father's Day on a road trip, making the long trek from Utah to Colorado.  Mr. Oopsey Daisy  has 2 brothers getting married this summer, so this weekend we attended wedding #1.  We have lots of stories and pictures to share later on.

I finally feel like summer is here.  Bring on the season of barbecues!!
Any good summer barbecue includes a yummy punch!
One of the things I love most about summer is watermelon!  The only problem is that in our house, our small family simply can't eat an entire watermelon before its delicious fruit become damp and slimy.
I do try to avoid wasting even a morsel of watermelon.  So last summer, I started experimenting with recipes for watermelon drinks.
This recipe is fresh and tasty--plus it helps solve the problem of what to do with excessive amounts of watermelon!  After our family has munched on watermelon all week long, we finish off our leftovers by making this watermelon lemonade.
Come along and see how to make this yummy punch... It's simple!

Piggies Play Day {Sumo’s Sweet Stuff}

I hope you're loving these fun Summer Camp posts as much as I am!
Today I can't wait to share one of my favorite bloggers with you!  Sumo's Sweet Stuff is here with some adorable activities that I know you'll enjoy.

Hello everybody!
I'm Sumo!

I blog over at a little place called Sumo's Sweet Stuff. I hope you'll stop by and say hi sometime!
Sumo's Sweet Stuff

I'm just thrilled to be a part of Alison's Summer Camp; don't you think she is just the greatest?
When Alison asked me to participate, I was so excited to use my teacher brain. Alison and I are kind of kindred spirits; we both used to teach first grade!
Since my girls are both pretty young still (1 & 2), I knew I wanted to choose a book that wasn't too long. We love to read books at our house, but if a book gets too long, we lose interest!
I immediately thought of this book: PIGGIES.
The illustrations are just beautiful, and the text is simple, describing words; perfect for my girls' ages! Plus, it talks about using something we use every day - our piggies, or fingers!
(No, I don't usually dress my girls identical, but there are a few pieces of clothing they both have, so sometimes it's cute!)

The book talks about each finger as a different piggies: fat, smart, long, silly, and wee little piggies! These piggies are sometimes hot, sometimes cold. Sometimes clean, sometimes dirty. Sometimes good, but at nite time, they get mischievous and skip down tummies to do dances on toes. It's a darling book, and your kids will love seeing what their piggies can do!

Hey, share that book with me!

Oh, alright.

Purse Hangers USA Giveaway – giveaway is closed

This giveaway is closed!

We all love our accessories, right?

I've always loved a good bag... or should I say bags?!  I am never satisfied with just one purse!

Well, today I have the privilege of introducing you to a new way of protecting those lovely bags.  Enter Purse Hangers USA.

Purse Hangers USA offers foldable purse hangers and purse hooks to keep your purse, diaper bag, or even lap top off the floor.  Recently, I was asked to review a purse hanger and a purse hook.

What a genius idea!  Now when I go out to eat, I can hang my purse from the table instead of placing it on the floor.  This will definitely keep my purses cleaner!

Don't you love the shiny gem?!  And there are several gems to choose from, so you can definitely accessorize!

This green apple rhinestone purse hook would be a beautiful gift for any teacher!

Wednesday’s Wowzers: Late Night Inspiration

Are you ready to be wowed??

It's almost 2 a.m., and I promised my hubby I'd be in bed hours ago.  But I've been collecting a bit of inspiration to share with you today.  Just a few of my favorites from blogging land...

This rose soap petal flower from The 36th Avenue is absolutely exquisite!  And guess what?  It's made from dollar store materials!

This printable Father's Day card couldn't be any more perfect for a man!  Go check out 30 Days for the download.

My friend Susan from Living With Punks is hosting a fantastic series--it's all about scrapping your stash!  I am totally inspired by these whimsical key chains that Craftiness Is Not Optional shared.  They would be the perfect addition to any gift.

I adore these 4th of July sparklers cupcakes.  I'm feeling more patriotic already!  See the beautiful tutorial at Two Shades of Pink.

Bev (from Flamingo Toes) has done it again!  I always love her dish towels.  But this dish towel has a matching ruffled apron that I am coveting!  Well done, Bev!

In the spirit of Summer Camp, each week I'll leave you with a literature-based idea.  I love this cup painting inspired by The Very Hungry Caterpillar.  Isn't it darling?!  Go see more fun ideas at I Can Teach My Child.

I hope you feel inspired... I know I do!  Now it's off to bed for this night owl.

Happy Wednesday!

Give Me a P-O-P! Frame Project

Need a last-minute Father's Day gift???

Why not spell it out!

We created this gift for my Dad from Little Man and his 2 cousins--my Dad's grandboys.

My nephew (the first grandson of the family) quickly began calling his Grandpa -"Pop", and the name stuck.  All of the grandchildren in our family now call my Dad "Pop."  For Father's Day this year, we decided to honor Pop by spelling his name.  There are 3 grandchildren and 3 letters in the word "Pop."  (Of course this would be easy to turn into a "DAD" project, too!) What are the chances?!  We had to strike while the iron was hot!

This project was fun and easy!

I found these adorable boxy letters at JoAnn's.  I only had to buy the "O" and "P."  I decided to spray paint them red so they would be a happy, bright color.  I wanted the letters to really pop!

We got together with cousins for a little photoshoot. Of course the hardest part about this entire project was trying to get these silly boys to look at the camera!  Little Man wanted to play peek-a-boo with his "O" instead of hold it out.

FINALLY!

Sunday’s Snippets: Don’t Judge Me!

If you're new here at Oopsey Daisy, Sunday is my day to spend with family.  I love and treasure this time!  On this blog, I love to share bits and pieces of our everyday lives with you.  It's just a little peek into our Oopsey Daisy days!

Lately I have been thinking a lot about my boys.  My husband spent the last week in town with us (which is highly unusual!), so I got to see them together a lot.  Playing.  Laughing.  Wrestling.  Eating.  It melts my heart.  I really believe that the sound of of the two of them playing and giggling is my favorite noise in the entire world!

So this week was all about Father and Son.

I am slightly OCD.  Let's just get that out there right now.

So please don't judge me as a terrible Mother for the following pictures.  This little event only occurred because 2 rules were firmly in place:

1.  I insisted that both of them wear helmets.

2.  They were only allowed to ride about 10 mph up and down our small cul-de-sac.

Little Man was nervous actually.  The loud "Vroom, vroom!" was a little intimidating.  Daddy, on the other hand, couldn't have been any more proud.  They both insisted that I play spectator/cheerleader while they rode Daddy's motorcycle around the cul-de-sac.

Is he catching flies??  For whatever reason, Little Man had his mouth open almost the entire time.

My favorite part:  After the short ride, Little Man came running into the house.  He said a phrase he has never said before... "That was the best!"  You should have seen his Daddy's grin.

Oh my boys.

What are you up to this weekend?

A New Way to Read the News!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Ringier Media. All opinions are 100% mine.

How amazing is this hand-painted "News" sign from Three Potato Four?!

I admit that I'm a bit of a News junkie.  I love staying up to date on what's going on in this crazy world we live in!  I'm a huge politics dork, and the year before elections is quite exciting for me.  I'm already glued to the  coverage for next year's presidential elections.  Pretty dorky huh?

How do you keep up with the News??

If I'm at my parents' house, there is almost always a newspaper on the kitchen counter.  Something about a newspaper just seems warm and homey to me.  I can remember many lazy Saturday mornings, mindlessly pouring over a newspaper while eating my cold cereal.  I'm not so great at reading a real newspaper now, although I do collect newspapers for fun projects like this...

Gorgeous newspaper wreath found via Pinterest

Now, I DVR my favorite News shows and follow my favorites News channels via Twitter.  On my iPad, I even get instant pop-up alerts of the latest breaking News.  I am somewhat proud of the fact that even while flying on an airplane from Denver to Maui, I found out about Osama bin Laden's demise even before the public news broke. (Thanks, Twitter!)

Do you remember the iPad case I shared last week?? A while back, many of you kindly shared your favorite iPad apps with me.  I'm quickly becoming an app-aholic!  Now I can use my iPad to keep up with globally relevant topics.  There's a brand new iPad app called the collection.

Dr. Seuss Comes to Summer Camp {The Creation Corner}

Are you loving this Summer Camp series as much as I am?!  Each week, I live for Fridays so I can share another talented guest with you!
I am thrilled to share one of my very first blogging friends with you.  Tasha is an incredibly talented gal who I absolutely adore.  I am DYING to share her idea with you today... I know you'll love it!  Go check out The Creation Corner for more creative ideas.

A well loved book at our house is One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish.  We love Dr. Suess.  The book is warn and weathered and as I like to call it..."Loved".   So, for our fun Summer Camp day we sat down to read and love this book one more time.

We started by reading the book together under our big front tree.   My favorite thing about reading Dr. Seuss books are the questions you can ask along the way.   They are filled with questions.  Silly, weird, fun questions.  It leaves room to ask what they would do.  Or if they would even want to do the things the characters in the book are doing.  I love the responses I get.

Then we got to work making these fun fish cupcakes that go along with the fish at the beginning of the book.

The fish cupcakes are simple to make.  You choose your favorite cake mix and make it according to the boxed directions for cupcakes.  Buy or make a white frosting, seperate into 2-4 bowls, and dye each bowl a different color.  Then use M&M's and different colored orange slices candy to decorate them.
