Snow Ice Cream

It's finally here!  Today is birthday party day at our house!  The big Micky Mouse birthday bash is happening today!  Well, at least birthday party #1 (with friends).  Birthday party #2 (with family) will be tomorrow.  Whew!  I have no doubts that I will be taking a nap at some point today.  But I absolutely can't wait to share all of the party details with you!

In the mean time, I thought I would share just one quick moment from our W is for Winter Mommy School unit.  I haven't been the best about taking pictures of our activities and art projects this time around.  Maybe I'm still burnt out from taking a bazillion pictures through the holidays!  But I had to grab the camera when Little Man experienced snow ice cream for the very first time.

I'm sure you've made this before.  I remember enjoying this fun treat growing up, too!

Snow ice cream is so easy and fun to make!

Here is the recipe we use:

8 c. clean snow

1-1.5 c. milk

1/2 c. sugar

1/2 tsp. vanilla

Here in Colorado, we have had quite a bit of snow during the last few weeks!  So we just waited for fresh snowfall, and knew we could make our own yummy treat!  Little Man loved helping to measure and mix it up!  And it had a yummy sorbet-like texture.

Do you make snow ice cream?

Stay warm this weekend!

Sunday’s Snippets: Weekend Blizzard!

I hope this finds you enjoying a warm and cozy weekend!

For me, Sundays are all about family and faith.  (And today, it might just involve the Super Bowl!) Usually we talk crafts on the blog.  But on Sundays, I take a break from that too.  Instead, I share bits and pieces of everyday life.  I hope you'll sit back and relax and read along!  Thanks for being here today.

Perhaps you heard on the news that Denver was pounded with snow this weekend!  We woke up Friday to snow, snow, and more snow!  It only tapered off yseterday afternoon.  We accumulated about 2 feet of snow total.  But the bad news--Mr. oopsey daisy was stranded out of town longer than expected.  This required me doing a lot of singlehanded snow shoveling. (And all those lost calories required plenty of hot cocoa!)

Luckily the hubby fought hard for a flight, and his little Honda chugged home from the airport through the snow--and got stuck right in front of our house!  But he made it, and we were thrilled!  There was still time for Little Man to have some fun in the snow yesterday with his Daddy.

They created an entire snow cave in the mound of snow that the snow plow used to push the snow in the corner of our cul-de-sac.

Little Man has always loved his gloves.  There is something so fun about putting on gloves!  We decided to try sledding down our mound, too.

So much fun!

And even Daddy had to try it out.  I'm kind of shocked that he could fit into that sled!

What are you up to this weekend?  Anything fun?

Hop on over tomorrow.... I'll be sharing some fun details of our Mickey Mouse party planning so far.

Sunday’s Snippets: Highlights

If you're new to Oopsey Daisy, welcome!  For me, Sundays are all about family!  So each Sunday, I take a break from my usual crafting routine to share a few glimpses of our everyday lives.  This is nothing glamorous about our days, but I treasure them nonetheless.

Hello my friends.  I just walked through every room in the house and adjusted all of our clocks.   (Of course there is always that one clock I seem to forget!)  I am almost giddy at the thought of that extra hour of sleep tomorrow.  Thank you, Daylight Savings!  Tonight I feel bone-weary.  The holiday season must be just around the corner because I feel it!  That sense of busy-bee-ness has hit!  Surely I am not the only one... Are your days filled with busy goodness too?

This week has been full of random highlights, and I will share just a few:

Can you believe that I convinced Mr. Oopsey Daisy to dress up for Halloween?

I feel like a lucky lady that he would wear these silly costumes with me! He is one hot spud!

Little Man soaked up every moment in his Halloween costume.

(I must confess that I finally hid his Buzz Lightyear costume after Halloween!)

We have had a couple of big snowstorms already this week.

This is the first time Little Man remembers snow, so we've been having lots of fun playing in it!

We celebrated Grandma's birthday.  What a sweet lady!  I am so blessed to call her my Mother.

My sister Kara came to visit... LOVE her!  Uncle John also came to visit, and he kept his nephews very, very busy during his stay!

Mr. Oopsey Daisy has been traveling a lot lately, so I have been playing single parent a bit.

But this sweet Little Man sure does take care of his mommy!

What have you bee up to lately?

Did you enjoy your extra hour of snoozes this morning?
