Scrabble Tile Ornament

This post was originally included in Sweet C's Designs' {Give Great Gifts} series.  Courtney has been sharing fantastic gifts all month long... be sure to check them out!  While you're at it, check out her vintage ski Christmas card display!  Love it!

Hello my friends!

This might just be the last time I post until Christmas.  Mr. Oopsey Daisy has finally arrived back in town after 2 weeks of busy travels, and we are in full-time Christmas mode.  Today's Scrabble tile ornament/gift embellishment is a quick-and-easy gift you can pull off in just a few minutes.  For the procrastinators (like myself!)...

I don't know about you, but time is short for me this holiday season.  Today I am sharing a quick-and-easy tutorial for creating a Scrabble Tile ornament.  You could give this as a gift, add it to a gift wrapping, or use it as a favor!  The best part is it's easy!

You know you're a crazy crafter when...

You take a brand new (but slightly dusty) Scrabble game and raid it for crafting supplies!

I searched my local thrift stores for a used Scrabble game, but came up empty!  Instead, I ransacked our very own game of Scrabble!  I justified this because we have never played Scrabble in our house.ever. It was begging to be used!

I started out by picking out the letters I wanted to use...

I love me a "Holly Jolly" Christmas!

I tried out a few types of glue, but I finally settled on the good stuff:  Gorilla Glue.  I have found that the secret to my success with Gorilla Glue is using the tiniest amount possible!  The hardest part of this project was waiting for the glue to set up.  I waited about an hour.

To make this an ornament, I hot glued a ribbon loop to the back.  Easy peasy!

Wednesday’s Wowzers: Gratitude

Oh my friends.  I fell asleep twice writing this post.  Yes I did.  I fell asleep with this laptop in my lap.  With Mr. Oopsey Daisy's travels picking up quite a bit, my Mommy time seems to be dwindling!  It may seem silly, but I need this Mommy Time.  Even if it means staying up till 1:00 AM, I will find some time for me!

And today I desperately needed that.  Today was just one of those days.  The phone didn't stop ringing.   I felt myself pulled in a million different directions.  There were deadlines to meet and appointments to make.  It seemed I was always forgetting to do something or neglecting someone.  I had some Mom moments that I am simply not proud of.

Maybe because our family recently started our gratitude tree, my thoughts have been filled with gratitude.  I really am blessed.  For many reasons.  I am blessed to be the Mom of the sweetest Little Man ever.  He has a natural instinct to take care of his Mom, and I love that about him!  And I am blessed to have a sweet, hardworking, determined husband.  And yes, today I am even grateful that, when I discovered in the middle of a project that I hadn't purchased the appropriate paper ahead of time... somehow just the right amount of paper showed up in my paper stash.  Hey, sometimes it's the little things! 🙂

It must be that time of year because I seem to be loving projects with neutral colors!  Here are a few projects that caught my eye this week:

I am loving everything about this clay flower.   Craftberry Bush used this as a napkin holder.  Gorgeous!

This Thanksgiving chevron frame is perfect.  I can't think of another word to describe it.  Choose to Thrive used gleaned wheat to create this frame.  I adore it!

Bev from Flamingo Toes has done it again!  These Anthro penmanship gift tags would be a lovely addition to any Christmas gift.

I have been in a serious recipe rut lately.  This cheesy pesto pasta salad has definitely peaked my curiosity!  I will definitely be making this in the very near future.  YUM!  Thanks, Smashed Peas and Carrots!

When I saw Michele's eclectic braided bracelet, I gasped outloud.  It's stunning, and I think I need one!  You can find the tutorial at The Scrap Shoppe.

Pitter & Glink made the most adorable pillows!  I love the ruffled pillows just as much as I love the Love {You} More pillow!  These were all created using dropcloth!

I hope you are following along Positively Splendid's "A Swell Noel" series.  I am finding all sorts of fun holiday inspiration!  I love this book page ornament that Creations by Kara shared.  I would love to have this hanging on our Christmas tree!
