A Big Enormous Thank You!

Wow.  I almost don't know where to begin.

Let's start with thank you.  Although "Thank You" doesn't seem nearly enough.  As I closed my eyes and hit "publish" on my last post, I was almost afraid to  check my e-mail the next morning.  Your kind responses have absolutely overwhelmed me with happiness and encouragement.  I sat at my laptop and cried outright for a few days.  I saved each and every thoughtful comment and e-mail.  I plan to respond to each one.  As my second family, thank you for giving me "permission" to enjoy my first family.  I think I needed that.

The last few days have been wonderful in every way.  I can't believe I thought I might have spare time without blogging every day!  I am still incredibly busy!  But I find myself doing the things I want and need to be doing as a wife and mom.  Putting family first just feels right.  I can enjoy each moment with my sweet boys.

So much has happened!  Our house is coming together.  After a week with mr. oopsey daisy home all week {finally!}, every room in our house is finally unpacked and organized except for my craft room.  And that's only because  I'm actually preparing to paint my craft room.  I am thrilled to paint a room in my own house for the very.first.time!  The dear sweet paint lady at our local Ace has become my new best friend.  I have her on speed dial.

We have been getting A LOT of work done inside our house.  My fabulous brother-in-law and husband needed three ladders to hang the light fixture in our entry way.   Precarious.  Our electrician is my new favorite person.  (Second only to the paint lady.)  We had lighting wired and installed in every room of the house.  All I can say is thank goodness for Pinterest for giving us lots of last-minute ideas for light fixtures!

We are getting plenty of work done outdoors too!  We love our back yard and never want to go inside.  Hubby is taking such great care of the yard--I find it kind of cute.  His dreams are coming true as he is finally building a shed in the back yard.  LIttle Man's dreams all came true when he got to sit inside this Bobcat.

I have a lovely raised garden that I just can't get enough of!  Just yesterday, this happened!  My peas and beans have sprouted, and now I just need to make plant markers for them!  I love my garden!

Summer has finally arrived.  Little Man loves playing in the sprinklers, helping his Daddy take care of the grass, and just running around outside.  Gotta love his farmer's tan.

Remember how I mentioned that I still have a few outstanding "business" posts?  Well, there is a great deal on a Silhouette coming up tomorrow.  But I just had to check in before that to tell you how grateful I am for each one of you who read this lil' blog.  Thank you for everything!

Have a happy day!

10 Creative Moving Announcements

Yes, moving has been on my mind a lot.

In the 5 years that we have been married, we have lived in four different houses.  I am so, so thrilled to finally stay a while!  We already love this new home and feel like it's our home!

I wish I had been more organized in the moving process.  I only had about 10 days' notice of our official moving date, and those 10 days were a whirlwind of cleaning and packing.  Guess what? I am ashamed to admit that I haven't even finished changing my address yet.  Pathetic, right?  I have been considering some type of moving/change of address announcement for our family and friends.

Here are some of my favorites:

1.  These Beep! Beep! photo cards from Tiny Prints make me smile!

2.  I adore these paint chip address cards from Hand MAKE My Day. I love the handmade touch, and I can imagine many more fun possibilities with paint chips!

3.  Pink Peppermint Paper shared these free printables in several shades so you can write your new address on the back!  Very handy.

4.  How clever are these brown paper moving announcements from {via} vacious designs?!

5.  Love the hand-stitched look to these New Home Sweet Home announcements at Juniper Berry Design.

Best of Oopsey Daisy, 2011

Happy {almost} New Year!

Where has this last year gone?!  This year has been filled with all sorts of crazy adventures for our little family!  We settled into our very first home, watched our baby grow into a little person, and had the opportunity to travel to some really cool places.  Some days I wish time would slow down... just a little bit.

This has been a very busy year at Oopsey Daisy, too!  Today I want to slow down for a moment, and take a look back to share 12 of my favorite posts--one for every month of the year!

Here are some of my favorite (and your favorite!) posts of 2011:

You know I love all things ABC!  I started off January by sharing a rare paper crafting project:  This Gospel ABC Book.

February was a busy time, planning Little Man's Toy Story Birthday party.  I still don't know how I'll be able to top this party!

When I mixed up this leprechaun pie for St. Pat's Day in March, I had no idea what a hit it would be!  I have a feeling we will be making another batch this year!

In April, I shared these printable General Conference note-taking packets that I prepared for my Primary.

I LOVE mixing a little work and a little play.  In May, I shared my ideas for this monster play date, kicking off a memorable Summer Camp series.  I really enjoyed Summer Camp this year, and can't wait to do it again this summer!

Airplane Room Decor {Elmer’s Looks For Less}

I rarely show pictures of our home decor.  And for good reason.  We are renting our home!  It can be really difficult to decorate the way I want to in a rental property.  There are many things I would LOVE to change.  (Take, for example, the pinkish hue of the paint color on the walls in my entire home.)  But more often than not, I just don't attempt much decorating at all.  I know that's pathetic, but it's true.

However slowly but surely, I have been making progress on Little Man's Big Boy airplane bedroom.  Elmer's gave me the opportunity to add some fun and easy decor and on the cheap!  I participated in their "Looks For Less" challenge. Using their supplies, I re-created several items I had my eye on... but my projects cost me next to nothing!  Easy on the eyes, easy on the pocket book.  :)

Today I have TWO tutorials to share with you!  I'll show you how I created the faux airplane canvases plus the faux wooden "FLY" letters using Elmer's products.

If you can believe it, I only spent $5.73 on both projects.  Not bad, eh?

Elmer's sent me some fabulous supplies to use for these projects.  They generously sent me:

1 - Black and 2 - White 20x30 Foam Boards

Several glue sticks (they are by far my favorite glue sticks!),

X-ACTO Knife,

Several Painters sets

Plus $25 to spend on supplies (I considered this a challenge to spend far less!)

Are you ready for TWO cheap and easy tutorials?  Let's get started!

Teacher’s Pet Skirt Review {Shabby Apple}

Some days I miss getting dressed up.

Don't get me wrong.  I love me a cozy pair of jeans, too.  But sometimes I want to rock some slacks.  Or a blouse--a real blouse and not just a t-shirt.  There is a portion of my closet that has been seriously neglected over the past 2 years.

So when Shabby Apple asked me to review their brand new Teacher's Pet skirt, I was happy to oblige!  I couldn't wait to have an excuse to get all dressed up (and on a weekday no less!).

The Teacher's Pet skirt is a pleated nautical skirt that is part of Shabby Apple's brand new Academia line.  I LOVE the mix of broad and narrow stripes.  It's completely different than any other skirt in my closet!  I'm always worried about the length of a skirt.  I'm a little picky because I'm so short.  A skirt that hits the wrong part of my knee makes me look like a little person.  But the Teacher's Pet is the perfect length!

A few more things to love:

* I can wear this in summer OR fall!

* It's oh-so comfty!

* I'm loving the box pleats!

* Doesn't it look great with boots?!

* I'm notorious for having "oopsey daisies" on windy days wearing the wrong kind of skirt.  But I think I'll be covered wearing the Teacher's Pet.  It's light and airy, but not flimsy.

If you're looking for something to spruce up your wardrobe, definitely check out Shabby Apple!

Have a happy Thursday!

Amazing Opportunity with Peter Walsh

Moms today are busier than ever!

Am I right?!

Source

We're balancing soccer practice, swimming lessons, family activities, church responsibilities, and so much more!  With so much on our plates, it can become incredibly difficult to stay organized!  In our house, even Little Man knows the dreaded words, "This place is a MESS!" Everyone knows Mom is happier when things are organized.  If it were up to me, everything would be color-coded and alphabetized.  (Remember my story book organization?) But it's a constant battle!

To help Moms like us stay organized, U.S. Cellular has teamed up with the amazingly talented Peter Walsh, famed organization expert, best-selling author and host of Oprah Winfrey Network's Enough Already! to offer 5 lucky moms across the country a dream makeover in the U.S. Cellular Multitasking Mom Makeover Contest.  Each mom won an organization consultation with Peter, a one-on-one, and a new wireless device from a U.S. Cellular wireless technology expert and a beauty makeover with local beauty experts.

Now the incredible Peter Walsh would like to extend his wealth of organization tips and strategies to you!

At one of the mom makeovers, Peter will film a video answer to one Oopsey Daisy reader's burning organization question.

Yes, it's true.  THE Peter Walsh will be filming an answer to one Oopsey Daisy reader's organization question!  What a fabulous opportunity!  This isn't a giveaway--Peter Walsh will be reviewing your comments and selecting ONE relevant organization question to discuss via video on the U.S. Cellular Facebook page.  Cool, huh??

Here's what to do:

Leave a detailed organization question in a comment below.  Also include your name and hometown along with your organization question.

This fabulous opportunity will only be available for 24 hours. So act fast!

You must leave a comment before Tuesday 8/9 at 2 PM MST.

Good luck!!

You can check out Peter Walsh's website here.

Let’s Talk Design Star

Nothing beats the Monday Blues like HGTV's Design Star!

It's time to check in.  Did you see last week's first episode?  Who did you love?  What spaces inspired you?

Here's the Season 6 crew in New York City!

There was already a bit of juicy drama already among the contestants.

My favorite designer is Kellie.  She's cute, and I can relate to her style! Plus did you see her big "oopsey daisy"?!  She spilled paint all over the hardwood floor.  Yes, I can relate to this girl!

In Episode 1, the contestants made over their own house!  Kellie created this fun space under a stairwell.  It was a clever and creative way to make over a space that would normally be a little awkward.

What did you think about this bright orange bedroom?!  Eek!  I would have a hard time relaxing in here, but it was a bold statement.

My favorite part about this chic room is the mural. Great idea!

I LOVE how this mirror creates a focal piece on the patterned wall in this bedroom.  Amazing!

But I agree with the judges... I am in love with this tire coffee table!  What a great conversation piece!

I can't wait to see what's in store tonight for Episode 2!  If you missed last week's episode, it's not too late to jump in.

Design Star episode 2 is tonight at 9pm/8c on HGTV.

I'll be watching, bowl of popcorn in hand.

Disclosure: This post is part of a sponsored campaign by Crafterminds and HGTV Design Star. My opinions are my own.
