Sunday’s Snippets: Prayers

For me, Sundays are a nice break from the usual routine to enjoy a day with family!   Here on the ol' blog, I use Sundays to give you glimpses into everyday life.  Because even though vinyl and mod podge are a lot of fun... believe it or not, most days we are just eating PB&J and working on getting the laundry done!

This week was all about prayer. Lots of prayers were given, and lots of prayers were answered.  It was rollercoaster ride with plenty of ups and downs.  But it was just a few days ago--Monday, to be precise--that Little Man enjoyed an entire morning of fun with his cousins and everything seemed just fine.  We visited the Denver Firehouse Museum.  The boys had the chance to dress up head to toe in fireman gear.

Fireman hats, coats, boots, even gloves!!

They even had the chance to drive a fire truck!

Yes, it was a dream come true for these boys!!

But little did we know that this sweet guy (Little Man's youngest cousin) was very, very sick.

Since our field trip, my sweet 20-month-old nephew endured more than any little guy should have to endure.  Tests and more tests.  Trips to the pediatrician's office. Then the specialist.  Then the hospital.  Each day, the results seemed a bit more grim.  But after a week full of tension and waiting, good news has finally arrived!  And never has the word "negative" sounded so sweet.  So while the most terrifying possibility has been eliminated, we continue to pray for answers about the cause of it all.

Times like this put everything into perspective.  Somehow my overflowing inbox isn't bothering me right now.  And yes, the dishes in the sink are being ignored. Because right now knowing that everything will be alright is all that matters.  Prayers are answered, my friends.

Get ready for another exciting week at Oopsey Daisy!  You can look forward to...

-- The return of the Creative Carousel, Valentine's Day style!

-- A sewing project {still learning my new machine!}

-- Another incredible wowzers linky party.  You never cease to blow me away!

-- An easy peasy valentine

Sunday’s Snippets: National Western Stock Show

Welcome to Sunday's Snippets!  I am thrilled that you're here today!  Believe you me, today I am relaxing and enjoying myself after having my husband gone for 6 days--even over the 3-day weekend.  So today is all about family time!  Here is a little break from the usual creative craziness to give you a peek into our everyday lives.

I have been super excited to share some highlights of our fun day at Denver's National Western Stock Show.  Every January once Christmas is over, we start looking forward to attending the Stock Show!  We put on our Cowboy boots and hats and get ready for some Western fun!  Besides attending the actual Rodeo show, there are so many fantastic activities for kids!  Little Man enjoys this more and more every year!  He was begging to go to the "Cowboy Show" all week long!

This year, my very talented Mother made some incredible cowboy chaps and vests for Little Man and his cousin.  As we walked through the crowds, the boys definitely got a little attention.  They looked so cute!

Our little cowboy!

Convincing Little Man to wear a shirt with buttons is tricky.  You should see us trying to get ready for Church each Sunday morning.  But he was excited to dress up like a cowboy!

The boys had the chance to ride some tractor tricycles.

Little Man's feet were just barely shy of the pedals, so Daddy helped push a little bit!

Always an animal lover, Little Man loved the petting zoo.

He especially loved the goats!  (Even though the goats were trying to eat his cowboy hat!)

Little Man and his 2 cousins rode in a Stick Horse Rodeo!!  They had the chance to name their stick horse and race through a series of little jumps.  The boys were so, so cute!

Little Man needed a little convincing to get up in front of the crowd, so Daddy was his helper this year!

We had a rootin' tootin' time!

Come back tomorrow!  I have a project that I can't wait to share!

So much fun to look forward to this week!

-- Some fun Valentine's Day decor

-- A giveaway to help celebrate the Chinese New Year

-- Another fab Wowzers party

-- An easy peasy valentine!

What have you been up to this week?

Sunday’s Snippets: Winter Fun

It's been way too long since our last Sunday's Snippets post.  If you are new to Oopsey Daisy, welcome!  Sunday's Snippets is my chance to show little bits and pieces of my every day life.  I share my creative side with you, but I like to share real life too.  Because just like you, the majority of the time I am cleaning the house, doing laundry, reading the same Curious George book for the upteenth time, and trying to figure out what to cook for dinner!

For me, Sundays are all about family.  So I step away from my usual creative routine so I can share some peeks of my real life with you!  Most of the time, that includes showing what Little Man and my family have been up to.  Even thought the holidays are long-gone, I wanted to share some fun moments of our post-holiday celebrations.  My entire family was here in Colorado, and we definitely enjoyed every moment together!

I love these sunny, snow winter days.  We might have 60 degrees one day; snow the next.  The spontaneity keeps me guessing!  But one thing I do love:  We almost always have blue skies and sunshine.

One of my favorite moments was visiting "Sledding Hill" (Yes, that's really the name of the park!) to try out our new sleds.  The hill (and the hike back up!) were endless.  This was Little Man's very first time sledding, and he loved it!  He went down the hill all by himself!  The hikes back up the hill tired pooped him out and made for a great nap that day!

We enjoyed a trip to the Denver Zoo for "Zoo Lights" one evening.  This was my favorite lights display of the entire season!

We bundled up for the cold, but it was quite a lovely evening!  There was just one problem:  Little Man kept asking where all the animals were!  We'll have to return to the zoo to see the animals when they're still awake!

Of course we had to make a holiday food tour of some of our favorite food spots!  This yummy hole-in-the-wall Mexican spot is one of our fave's.  The salsa has gotten spicier and the sopapillas have gotten bigger!  But the entire meal was delicious!

Little Man has become quite the artist lately 🙂 He's loving his new giant coloring pad--a gift from his aunt, uncle, and cousins!

The holidays with a toddler are such a magical time!  I enjoyed watching this little guy experience Christmas!   I didn't want it to end!

I sure do love this Little Man of mine.  He seems so grown up to me these days.  He says words like 'deee-licious!" and "lens cap" and "giggling." Every day some new word sneaks its way into his vocabulary. He's my buddy, that's for sure.

I hope you'll join me for another week of Oopsey Daiy fun!  Here is what's on tap here on the ol' blog;

* A Valentine's Day craft with a Pride & Prejudice theme (again!)

* A yummy recipe with a festive Valentine's Day touch

* Another inspiring Wednesday's Wowzers linky party

* A fun giveaway

* Another easy peasy valentine!

Sunday’s Snippets: Happiest Place on Earth

If you're new to Oopsey Daisy, welcome!  For me, Sundays are all about family!  So each Sunday, I take a break from my usual creative routine to share a few glimpses of our everyday lives.  There is nothing glamorous about our normal days, but I treasure them!

Last week, we left snowy Colorado to visit family in sunny California!

You may recall that last week was a rollercoaster ride for our little family.  But it began here at Disneyland... the Happiest Place on Earth!  Just looking at these pictures makes me want to go back!

I realize we are completely spoiled, but every year we go to Disneyland for just 1 day.  Mr. Oopsey Daisy's family lives in California, somewhat close, and visiting Disneyland with my in-laws has just become our "thing." So this was actually Little Man's third time visiting Mickey Mouse and friends!  This year we even survived an entire day at Disneyland without a nap!   This year we were foolish enough to plan our trip to Disneyland just 2 days before Thanksgiving, so we battled long lines, crowds, and aching feet. But of course I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Just in the last few months, Little Man has truly fallen in love with Mickey Mouse.  (I am thrilled about this because "Mickey Mouse's Clubhouse" is one children's TV show that I actually enjoy myself!)  So his little Mickey Mouse traveled with us to meet the real Mickey Mouse!

Sunday’s Snippets: A Hot Date!

For me, Sundays are all about family!  So each Sunday, I take a break from my usual creative routine to share a few glimpses of our everyday lives.  This is nothing glamorous about our normal days, but I treasure them!!

This week (on Thanksgiving, actually!), Mr. Oopsey Daisy and I are celebrating 4 years of the beginning of our eternity together.

Four years?!

It seems like just yesterday!

I felt like a very lucky lady then.  But I feel even luckier now.

As you know, Mr. Oopsey Daisy travels a lot and works very hard for our family.  It's definitely not easy on him or us.  But one thing is for sure:  I appreciate the times we are together even more.

To celebrate our big day, my sweet hubby planned an incredible date!  It was perfect in every way.

After traveling, he popped into town and surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of roses just in time for our date!  I don't think I will ever get tired of roses... these lovelies just make me smile!

Sunday’s Snippets: Highlights

If you're new to Oopsey Daisy, welcome!  For me, Sundays are all about family!  So each Sunday, I take a break from my usual crafting routine to share a few glimpses of our everyday lives.  This is nothing glamorous about our days, but I treasure them nonetheless.

Hello my friends.  I just walked through every room in the house and adjusted all of our clocks.   (Of course there is always that one clock I seem to forget!)  I am almost giddy at the thought of that extra hour of sleep tomorrow.  Thank you, Daylight Savings!  Tonight I feel bone-weary.  The holiday season must be just around the corner because I feel it!  That sense of busy-bee-ness has hit!  Surely I am not the only one... Are your days filled with busy goodness too?

This week has been full of random highlights, and I will share just a few:

Can you believe that I convinced Mr. Oopsey Daisy to dress up for Halloween?

I feel like a lucky lady that he would wear these silly costumes with me! He is one hot spud!

Little Man soaked up every moment in his Halloween costume.

(I must confess that I finally hid his Buzz Lightyear costume after Halloween!)

We have had a couple of big snowstorms already this week.

This is the first time Little Man remembers snow, so we've been having lots of fun playing in it!

We celebrated Grandma's birthday.  What a sweet lady!  I am so blessed to call her my Mother.

My sister Kara came to visit... LOVE her!  Uncle John also came to visit, and he kept his nephews very, very busy during his stay!

Mr. Oopsey Daisy has been traveling a lot lately, so I have been playing single parent a bit.

But this sweet Little Man sure does take care of his mommy!

What have you bee up to lately?

Did you enjoy your extra hour of snoozes this morning?

Sunday’s Snippets: The Pumpkin Patch

If you're new to Oopsey Daisy, welcome!  On Sundays, I cherish the opportunity to spend time with family and take a break from my usual crafting routine.  Sunday's Snippets is my chance to show you a peak into our everyday lives.  Thanks for being here!

Pumpkin Patch Day might just be one of my favorite days of the whole year.  It's right there behind Christmas Eve!  The patch is everything I love about fall:  Vibrant colors... the outdoors... and pumpkins!!  When it comes to baking, I love all things pumpkin!  Pumpkin pancakes, pumpkin muffins, pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies!  So just seeing fields of pumpkins makes me hungry!

We planned our outing to the Patch weeks ago.  And it was the perfect day.  The weather was gorgeous and the pumpkins were plentiful!

I realize that I take too many pictures, but I simply couldn't resist.

I just loved sitting back and watching Little Man experience the Pumpkin Patch for the first time he'll probably remember.

So many pumpkins--where to begin?

Sunday’s Snippets: Fall Colors

Oh how I love Sundays!

It's my day to relax.  And even though I publish my Snippets post on Sunday, I actually write these posts and schedule them ahead of time.  I do my best to makes Sundays lap-top free!  I need this time to spend time with my family and take a break from my usual routine.

Today I am extra excited to share some snippets of our lives with you.  Every October, our family takes a drive to see the beautiful fall colors.  This year, we spent an entire 2 days in Estes Park, Colorado.  This is a part of Colorado I don't typically see--and I loved it!  Fall is simply my favorite time of year.

It really doesn't get much better than this!

Just as we pulled into town, we spotted 30-40 elk at a local baseball park.  Yes, apparently, these elk love baseball!  We watched as boys played ball all around the elk.  They hit baseballs--literally between the legs of this bull--and it weren't even phased!  During this time of year, elk are everywhere.  They are known to walk down the streets.

Only in Colorado can you hang out on a baseball diamond with elk!  It was incredible.

We spent the day exploring the state park, watching elk and listening to them bugle, and playing in the leaves. The aspens were turning yellow, and it was still 75+ degree in the Rocky Mountains.  What a beautiful day, and a beautiful part of the world!

Just a few of my favorite shots...

Sunday’s Snippets: General Conference and the Park

If you're new to Oopsey Daisy, welcome!  For me, Sundays are all about family.  So I take a break from my usual blogging and crafting routine to share my family with you.  These are just little snippets of our everyday lives!

Last weekend was General Conference for our Church.

All I can say is wow.  What a perfectly lovely way to be inspired and spend the time with family and yummy food!  It's hard to wait another 6 months before we can do this again!

I was beaming with pride at my Little Man.  He hung on every word.  Yes, he really did.  He had learned the names of all the Apostles, and couldn't wait to see them on TV.  He refused to take naps.  How could we resist when he would say, "Mom, I need to watch Conference!"

He quietly did the tot activities I planned last year.  He wanted to play the match game "all by myself." 🙂

We made a giant pillow and blanket fortress.  I love how both of my boys are such snuggle bugs!  Of course there was just a little bit of monkeying around.

On Sunday we got together with my parents and sister's family to watch Conference. Once it was over, we decided to enjoy the beautiful fall weather (80+ degrees!) by going on a walk to the park.  Pop pulled all 3 boys in their red wagon.

Sunday’s Snippets: Surprise 80s Birthday Bash

Last weekend I turned 30 years old.
Yes, the big 3-0.  I had been dreading this milestone for quite some time because even though I feel as young as ever, something about the number just sounds awful.  I had hoped that the day would pass quickly and quietly with as little freaking-out as possible.
But instead, I got to party in style!
I pride myself on sensing surprises.  But I have to admit--I had NO CLUE that this one was coming.  Little did I know that weeks ago, a Party Planning Committee (my husband, sister, and Mom!) had formed.  And they had been busy!

Last Friday night I walked into a hot 80's-themed birthday party!

The night before my birthday Mr. Oopsey Daisy announced he was taking me on a birthday date.  Nothing about this seemed odd to me.  We typically celebrate our birthdays with some kind of date night.  This night was nothing too special.  We ran some errands. A bit of dinner.  Hubby convinced me to eat a vanilla/chocolate twist ice cream cone at Jason's Deli, so I obliged.
When we got out to the car, my sweet hubby blindfolded me!  He drove me around town, but I had a sneaky suspicion that we were getting close to our house.  And I was right.
He carried me piggy back right up to my very own doorstep where he took off my blindfold, and I was greeted by an enormous, "SURPRISE!"  My house had been turned into an 80's party zone, and about 40 friends and family were decked out in 80's clothes.  I didn't even recognize half of them!

I was given 5 minutes to change clothes to fit in with the party.  And thanks to my sis, I had an 80's outfit ready to go.I rocked a butterfly top, pink mini skirt with leggings, animal print sandals, and a side ponytail with one of my old purple hair bows!
My family had decorated with some of my old Care Bears and stuffed animals as centerpieces.  Everyone was given slap bracelets (yes, they DO still exist!) and glow sticks.  They had also plastered 80's posters everywhere.  Nothing says 80's like Michael Jackson's moon walk! My Mom even made not one but TWO Care Bear birthday cakes.  I really was obsessed with Care Bears back in the day...
Prizes were given out for the best dressed, and my sister had a few fun games...
* "Guess the Lyrics" to 80's songs.
* "Guess that 80's movie" with props to jog our memories!
* You know you were born in the 80's if...
We even had E.T. projected on the side of the house on a sheet!  While we cleaned up the party, the boys were very well entertained.
Yes, I am now the dreaded 30.
But I feel so blessed.
I have incredible family and friends.   Life is good.
