Sunday’s Snippets: Happiest Place on Earth

If you're new to Oopsey Daisy, welcome!  For me, Sundays are all about family!  So each Sunday, I take a break from my usual creative routine to share a few glimpses of our everyday lives.  There is nothing glamorous about our normal days, but I treasure them!

Last week, we left snowy Colorado to visit family in sunny California!

You may recall that last week was a rollercoaster ride for our little family.  But it began here at Disneyland... the Happiest Place on Earth!  Just looking at these pictures makes me want to go back!

I realize we are completely spoiled, but every year we go to Disneyland for just 1 day.  Mr. Oopsey Daisy's family lives in California, somewhat close, and visiting Disneyland with my in-laws has just become our "thing." So this was actually Little Man's third time visiting Mickey Mouse and friends!  This year we even survived an entire day at Disneyland without a nap!   This year we were foolish enough to plan our trip to Disneyland just 2 days before Thanksgiving, so we battled long lines, crowds, and aching feet. But of course I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Just in the last few months, Little Man has truly fallen in love with Mickey Mouse.  (I am thrilled about this because "Mickey Mouse's Clubhouse" is one children's TV show that I actually enjoy myself!)  So his little Mickey Mouse traveled with us to meet the real Mickey Mouse!

Sometimes I forget that Disneyland's real magic is not only in the rides.... but in the little things.  Like the food!  Every time we visit Disneyland (and I mean every time!), we eat these amazing corn dogs for lunch.  No other corn dog compares to Disneyland's corn dogs.  I look forward to these.  Yummmm.  I hope my hubby forgives me for posting this picture of him enjoying the Dole pineapple float.  Another one of our fav's.

I think Little Man enjoyed taking breaks from standing in line to just run around and play. It's amazing how a simple slide can seem almost better than the Flying Dumbo!  I can't say I blamed him, though.  He needed a chance to take a break from the crowds and just run and play!

We planned our entire day around meeting Mickey Mouse.  Little Man has always been a patient little guy, but this was one time I thought he might melt into a pool of frustrated impatience.  He loved Mickey Mouse's house, but he was so excited to finally meet Mickey!

Meeting Mickey (and Goofy!) were the highlight of our day!

Although I think "It's a Small World" might just have been the highlight of my day.

What is it about this ride that just makes me smile?!  I especially loved the Christmas touches!

We had such a fantastic time, and we are already planning to go back next year.

Next year, however, I think we'll try to go  at a time where it's not quite so busy!

Wrestling an impatient toddler can be exhausting for Mom and Dad, too.  :)

Now we're still putting away laundry and getting back to everyday life!

What are you up to lately??

  4. Oh those places look so familiar:) We live in southern California and visit Disneyland about 3 times a month:) LOVE it there!! I love your blog too!!

  5. Great pictures! We’ve been wanting to take our little guy to Disney World. Maybe in a year when he isn’t so impatient. 😉

  6. We live in AZ and break down for Season passes every other year! Have you done the Playhouse Disney live on Stage in CA Adventure? If your son loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse he will LOVE it! We just went to WDW last month with a 5 yr old and 1 yr old. It’s great to start a Disney Tradition when they are young!

  7. We love everything Disney too!!! You’re so lucky that you get to go every year…. We live in Hawaii, so going to Disneyland does take some planning, but we recently became Disney Vacation Club owners and have done our staycations at Aulani… which is not as big as Disneyland… but w/ all the little Disney touches and of course seeing Mickey and Minnie is just as good!
