Preparing Siblings For Baby
The fun thing about preparing for a new baby is realizing how it will also impact baby's older siblings!! I saw this adorable idea from Naptime Journal. She created an entire "Countdown to Baby" for her daughter.
I wanted to make my 3-year-old nephew a little gift so he could help celebrate when his baby brother arrived! I couldn't think of any gift better than the famous cozy car caddy from Homemade By Jill. I thought this would be a fun way for him to take his favorite matchbox cars to the hospital to play while Mom and Baby were recovering. Okay, okay. I wanted to make one for Little Man, too. So I made TWO. I love how they turned out!
I don't even want to point out all of my many "oopseys" on this project. Let's just say I will get it right if I ever do it again. But I did learn a little trick... I didn't like that my stitching showed after sewing on the velcro. So I used a red sharpie to make my stitches blend in to the belting!
Here is the inside. I had some red duck cloth left over from a placemat project. Between the duck cloth and denim, this is a very sturdy project! So it should withstand some heavy-duty playing from very enthusisastic little boys!
My son loved his cozy car caddy as a surprise when we were traveling, and we needed a little entertaining at the airport. This is his favorite car--or should I say teething toy!
Just load those cars into their numbered pockets, wrap it up, and you're on your way! They really won't fall out. (I worried about that.)
I can just hear my son's little vroom-vroom sounds!
How have you helped prepare your siblings for a new baby??
Don't forget--my "Baby is Sleeping" sign giveaway ends tonight at midnight.

Is that denim?? I love that! Love your Sharpie trick, too. Brilliant! This is just to stinkin' cute!
I want that car caddy.. LOVE IT!!!!!
this was my solution for baby proofing all of the small toys in our home that pose a risk to our 6 month old – it was proving to be quite the challenge with our four year old daughter who love, Love, LOVES tiny treasures, until I came up with this idea that is working like a charm!

Love it! Can you make me one-pretty pretty please?! 😉
I came up w/ a car cozie/cozy tute last summer 🙂 It is different and a little easier 🙂
I love Jill's idea to use denim and numbers. I actually used the numbers later w/ a placemat and made it a car cozy. Yours turned out very cute and I don't see any "oopseys" 🙂
Here are the links:
