Family Memory Game

This is a fun little game I made last summer.  I made a set for my nephew's birthday and another set for my son.  I realize that it will be a while before he can really play it, but at least I am prepared right?!
You know the drill...  kids turn over cards and try to get a match.  I know how much kids love looking at pictures, especially of people they know.  So I made an easy version of this classic game.  I included Mom, Dad, all cousins, aunts, uncles, and all grandparents.  Yes, there are plenty of cards to go around!!
My son really adores looking through his cards!  Right now, he just shuffles through them.  But he does get excited to see the familiar faces.  He is thrilled with Grandma's picture in this photo.  Some days, I will catch him carrying around his cousin's card with him... so cute!!  It's also a fabulous way to help him remember family members who are out of state.

Of course you could definitely make this cuter and craftier.  You could make the cards with scrapbook paper and print off name labels.  But.... well, I just didn't.  :)  I am glad I laminated the cards, however, because they have already been chewed on, carried around, bent up, and who knows what else!

Cute idea! We have a "Who loves baby?" book full of photos for our son, but this would be great for when he gets older! Love it!

  2. That's a great idea. I think I might have to make a set…thanks!

Oooo, perfect idea for babies. It reminds me of the "Your Baby Can Read" commercials. It's a memory game AND flash cards :) Thanks for sharing this smart idea! I'll be back – I'm your newest follower.

This looks fabulous! We've got a 9mo and we're hoping to makes some flashcards of family members for the fridge and to play with. Perhaps we can make doubles and as she grows we too can have a family memory game! Great idea! :)
